Sammy had her puppies!

Published by cwilson26 at 1:28 pm under thoughts Edit This

Oh boy, I went out to feed my outside dogs and cats this morning and when I got to Sammy I knew something was up. You see, usually she jumps around until I feed and water her. This time she didn’t even come out of her dog box so I knew something was up. We were expecting her to have her babies anytime and when I looked in her box I found her feeding 5 beautiful puppies. Two of them look like Sammy and Jake together, Rottweiler and German Shephard/Chow, 1 looks like a red doberman, and the other two look just like their daddy Jake, a Rottweiler. Jake also has Doberman in him so that is where the one doberman comes from.

I am a proud dog owner but I wish I could have gotten her fixed before this. They are very cute even though they were just born. Now to keep my husband from trying to keep one of them, that might not be so easy. As soon as he saw the red doberman he wanted it. We already have 6 dogs and we do not need anymore.

Anyway, we brought her in the house with the puppies and Jake outside in her box. He is not too happy right now because he is used to being in the house but we don’t want him around them in case he tries to kill them.

It’s a good thing I have pills to help me sleep at night or I will be going through what I went through with my Dachshund when she had her pups. They kept me up half the night because when mommy didn’t want to feed them they would come in the bedroom and wake me up to make her feed them. Then I would have to sit up and wait until they all fell back to sleep. This went on at least three times a night and until we weaned them off of mommy’s milk. Then we had to find homes for them and of course I got attached so I kept one. We did find good homes for the rest though and that is what we will do with these ones too.

This is Sammy’s first litter and it will be her last because as soon as she is done feeding them I will put an ad in the paper like I did before and then we will be getting her fixed. I don’t care if it is the last of my money to get her spayed. The Humane Society helped pay last time and they said they will help again so we will be calling on them one more time.

Mommy is laying in the other room comfortably feeding her precious pups! She won’t even eat right now because she doesn’t want to leave them. I have to get a camera to take pictures and as soon as I get ink for my printer I will scan them and put them up on my next post when I update on how mommy and babies are doing. This is going to be a fun and hard couple of months.
